Change Your Life

by Scott Hughes

Almost everybody wants to change something about themselves and their life. For example, many people want to lose weight. Others want to earn more money or quit smoking.

Unfortunately, most people don't change their life. In fact, their particular problems tend to get worse. Instead of losing weight, the unhappy fat person gets fatter. Instead of quitting, the addicted gets even more addicted.

You Can Change Your Life

If you actually want to change your life, then you have to accept that you can change your life. Don't let there be any ambiguity about it; You can change your life! If you want to lose weight, you can lose weight. If you want to watch less TV, then watch less TV.

Tell it to yourself right now, so that we have no misunderstandings. Say to yourself, "I can change my life."

Change Your Life Right Now

Most people continuously want to change something about themselves, which they can do, but they never actually do it. They might say to themselves, "I'll start my diet tomorrow," or "I'm going to be a nicer person when I start my new job." That's total bull.

We're not genies. We can't snap our fingers some random day in the future and recreate our lives. Rather, we have to take life step by step. If you don't start walking up the stairs today with the first step, then you're not going to get to the top.

Don't pretend like you're waiting until next New Years Day to make a resolution. Start right now. Don't wait until next year. Don't wait until next month. Don't wait until tomorrow. Start right now.

If you want to lose weight, your new diet starts now; Otherwise, don't lie to yourself and say you want to lose weight. If you want to be more physically fit, then start exercising today and keep exercising regularly; Otherwise, don't lie to yourself by saying you want to be more physically fit.

Most people procrastinate. They psychologically beat themselves up over not living better, but they never actually live better. All it takes is some self-discipline. Choose to live better now, and then stick with it.

Start a two-column list of things you want to change about yourself. For each item on the list, in the first column write what you want to change and in the second column write how you can do it. Either once every day or once every week add something to the list. Start making that change as soon as you write it down!
