How do you make a living?

Postby Scott » 27 Feb 2007, 09:17

Where do you work? What do you do? How is it?

I'm self-employed. I'm a webmaster, web designer, and online business owner. I offer many internet services including web hosting and web promotion.

That's awesome Scott! Right now I'm a university student living at home with my parents. Not very exciting...

I gave up my dreams of running my own business to raise my kids. It's worth it.

agapanthus, that's great! You've got one of those classic family businesses. :D

mexicomarti, I'm always honored to be in the presence of a teacher of any kind. My sister is a teacher, but she teaches biology here in the states, so it's not exactly the same. Anyway, I hope you enjoy Mexico!

the culture looks wonderful, so colourful.
(i don't think i have the patience to be a teacher, however).

I am currently in college, aspiring to receive a degree in English and Philosophy. My wife is working and paying most of the bills right now while I go to college. I will soon be able to take advantage of some of the scholarships and grants available to students going to major universities, since I am currently going to a community college where student aide is in short supply.

Forgot to mention that I am also aspiring to start a business, which is coming along quiet well; my business associates and I should be filing Articles of Incorporation within the next month or so.

I also wish to start my own blog, but am completely clueless as to how I would go about doing such a thing.

Overall, I don't believe I am doing too bad for a 21 year old.

Thanks, agapanthus, I appreciate your help. I was looking for something a little more along the lines of a blog with a custom domain name, ability for google adsense, etc. etc. I like how Wordpress feels, but am looking to find something a little less generic. Thank you for your help, though, and if you find anything else that might help me I would be very appreciative.

i know this > < much about.....net stuff.....but i believe the google blog can be hosted on your own domain.
in fact, if i ever figure that out completely, i'll link a blog to my own site.
there is something about it in the options when you set the blog up.
and i'm sure i've seen google ads on various google blogs.

(now i have to go and look).

k, i just checked.
when you set up the blog, you select edit layout.
then select page elements.
then select add page element.
then select adsense.

damn, i'm good. :)

Awesome. I take it you would have to create an Adsense account and all to get it where you will get paid and what-not, but that is great. Now the only issue is making a blog using the Blogger software that doesn't look super-generic, lol.

I work in customer service for a few different companies. I don't actually work for the companies that I do customer service for, I work for a company that specializes in doing customer service for other companies.
